CSXT Coleman (Cambria load-out) branch, PA
Author: mp208

Three units idle away a quiet Saturday near Shanksville, PA, waiting.........and waiting for a crew to take a loaded train back to the main line at Rockwood, PA. At 4+ gallons/hr each, it is an expensive wait. The needed crew was finally rounded up at 8:00am Sunday morning (2/22). This competition for NS's Central City loadout is is expected to rise to eight trains per month in May, many going to Mt. Storm on the old WM south of Keyser, WV.

There was also an N-732 spotting empties at Shaw Mine this morning. That should be another loaded Mt. Storm train later this week. Is that an old warrior B36-7 behind the AC`s?

So 12 gallons of Diesel Fuel per hour vs 3 cracked engine blocks.

Let them idle.

I`m sure the AC`s probably have AutoStart on them so unless it was really cold they probably shut down for a while before restarting. Up to 8 times in a 24hr period if memory serves.

I'm sure this question has been answered before, so please bear with me. ;-)

When does a crew start their service hours? When they report to their call station or when they actually board the locomotive?

Keystone TWL, I think it was 5553 (see picture)
Phall; of course they should be left to idle; the point your missed is "Where is the crew"?
