Something I threw together for the title page of a powerpoint presentation. It was for a bee-keepers club. I got some free honey.

There are many here but still a few railroad names not depicted. Can you name a few that I didn't list? PRR predecessors? The Midland Road? Fort Wayne, Jackson & Saginaw? Earlier names for the Interurbans? Fort Wayne street railroad?

Yup, PRR line through Fort Wayne.

Somehow, Amtrak seems more like a transit authority than a railroad.

Yes, maybe not a railroad here but part of Fort Wayne's railroad history.

I forgot to mention that was the quietest group I ever presented to. Not a question or remark whatsover if I recall. The webmaster for the original Fort Wayne Railfan website was with me. (An air traffic contoller, he has since moved to Columbus, Ohio. He had no love lost for Fort Wayne, Indiana. <G>)

If I may ask? Just out of curiosity, why was the presentation to a bee-keepers club?

It's been a while but I got a request out of the blue I think. The presentation was held in a room at the Golden Corral buffet restaurant. Oh yeah, in addition to my free honey, Safky and I got free meals out of it. He was my "helper". I invited him along as he wanted to see the presentation. And he knows computers better than me; so if the digital would go on the fritz... Don't laugh, it's happened. I feel more comfortable with the old slide projector but can do a lot more with the digital format with graphics and photos.

The logo of the Indiana ('Railroad' as one word) Railroad shown in this post has recently been applied to one of the Indiana ( 'Rail Road' as two words) Rail Road's locomotives.

Funny how they get away from the interurban corporate legalites by spelling it "Indiana Rail Road" instead of "Indiana Railroad", than use the interurban's logo. <G>

If I'm not mistaken, when INRD was formed in 1986 someone still owned the name "Indiana Railroad" so they either couldn't have it, or couldn't afford to buy it. I believe something has changed in the last couple of years. Either there is no longer a claim to IRR, or Tom Hoback bought the rights.
