Eastern Railroad Discussion > CSX riverline derailment south(east) of Selkirk NYDate: 08/16/10 19:13 CSX riverline derailment south(east) of Selkirk NY Author: pal77 Hearing second hand that CSX put 20+ cars on the ground south of Selkirk on the riverline near Ravena NY. Apparently no injuries and no hazmat just clean up. Railfan upshot detours over NYSW, suppose to be 2 trains combined in Syracuse tonight heading South over Squeak Northern Division and a crew is called for 5:30am in Binghamton. So anyone wishing to get and chase an daylight eastbound over the former Erie Delaware division tomorrow is your looking like your day. I just caution all my info is second hand, but I figure worth a post.

From the Susquehanna Yahoo list CSX Q108 will be combined with Q110 in Syracuse and will be DETOURED down the NYS&W. Scheduled to depart 1900 hrs. OK, here's the scoop. Train is being brought to Bingo with a crew from Syracuse. Train will be recrewed at 6AM(that's the earliest time anyone is rested to cover the assignment). SY crew simply cant make the run all the way east in the allotted time. Power is all CSXT: 5326, 7369, 5206, 2731, 5262, and 144. Train HAS to make the 12 noon window at Port Jervis, otherwise there will be a significant delay that no one wants. Road pool crew will get recrewed with a Little Ferry based crew somewhere below Pelton Road, Warwick NY, at a time undetermined as of now, and Binghamton crew will taxi home. Running time to port Jervis from Binghamton, including the slow orders should be around 4 hours. Train SHOULD make Port Jervis before noon. CSX is well aware of the delays already encountered but still wants the train handled by this routing. Date: 08/17/10 11:18 Re: CSX riverline derailment south(east) of Selkirk NY Author: NSHorseheadSD70 I'm not familiar with that area but will be in the Erie area on Thursday. What will this River Line derailment do to CSX's Lake Shore Sub traffic if it's even affected?

It also says train service isn't affected, which we know isn't true. http://www.timesunion.com/default/article/Train-derails-in-Ravena-617271.php Ravena NY is on the River Subdivision, which is one of three main CSX lines that split from the Water Level Route in the Albany area. This line goes down the West Shore to North Bergen NJ. Related?
