This begs the question, where's it headed from Linwood?

I know there are some guys who aren't happy about the unit even making it as far south as Linwood. 6900 was rebuilt from one of the units involved in the Graniteville, SC wreck. I can't say I blame them... I wouldn't want to run a locomotive that one of my good friends and co-workers died on.

Eric's right about the emotional impact this unit will have, but if anything this engine should also serve as a reminder to follow the rules and maintaining focus and attention to duty - had the rules been followed and the switch been properly lined it can be argued Graniteville would never have happened. It is a shame 2 innocent people lost their lives because of someone else failed to follow the rules.

Are there other locomotives out there that have had a fatality (with respect to the crew) and are still serving? Unfortunately there are probably too many locomotives to name that have struck a trespasser or struck a vehicle trying to beat the train.
