3 UPs leading NS 214 northbound
Author: ddavies

After a couple months without much foreign power on NS in No VA, UP 7784 leads two 70Ms with 214 this afternoon. Nice chase on the B-line for three locations, plus one location on the H-line.

Can anyone shed some light why NS and CSX intermodal trains always have a bunch of empty slot's? I've never seen such weird trains all the empty's thrown in randomly.

Mostly because they are not unit trains, like the transcon double stacks. There are a lot of cuts in the trains that are delivered to different cities.

Same thing out here on the trains i'm talking about. Trains are assembled and built and so each slot on the train sold and used. Single level slots where the top isn't loaded is rare any more. Empty cars and slots are inefficiencies in service

Don't have the volume to fill up the block for a certain ramp.
