CSX: ES44AC vs. HO Tower "era"...
Author: hoydie17

I'm wondering what the date was the HO Tower (Hancock, WV) closed? Also, what was the approximate date (month/year) CSX started taking delivery of ES44AC's?

This is for planning purposes on my model prototype. I really want to include HO Tower in my model, but I also want to include a few ES44AC's on the roster, and want to make sure they co-existed in the real world. I can't remember off the top of my head.

Thanks.

The GEVO invasion began in late July/early August 2005. Been ruining lashups ever since, but that's another story.

HO Tower was torn down on June 26, 2008.

Thanks Jeff, but I'm specifically talking about the 700-series GEVOs, not the DC versions... although, your answer might have given me what I needed anyways.

In that case I would say October/November 2007. I don't discriminate when it comes to GEVO's. They're all monotonous!

Yeah, I think it's safe to say HO Tower was still standing when the 700's were active on the roster. The first twenty or so 800's were on property by the time HO tower was knocked down. I just found a photo I took on Memorial Day 2008 with 811 leading an empty hopper train, and HO Tower was still standing then, albeit inactive.
