New Ohio shortline.
Author: EL-SD45-3632

Heard from a reliable source that very soon a new class III shortline will soon start called the Toledo Junction railway, that is what I know. Anyone know where and what rails the Toledo Junction railway will use? With the old Toledo Terminal rails mostly gone, all that is left are the class Ia's to run on. Any ideas?

Facts are true as I shot two newly refubished engines for the Toledo Junction sitting in Bellevue today at the NS shops
The engines are powder blue/white stripe and blue letters one unit is a 6 axel SD40-2 OR UPGRADED MAYBE3 AND THE 2ND unit is a small chopnose geep in the form of GP 10 OR 20 CANT REALLY TELL
Pictures later

A wild guess--what's left of the woodville stub track that CSX local runs on?

There was a rumor a while back that NS was going to bail on the line to Maumee & Waterville. Did find this while googling around

A couple pictures popped up today on Flickr of the first two of (potentially 3 or 4) units associated with this new operation. The paint scheme is virtually the same as the "Port of Toledo Railroad" unit that hides up in the port of Toledo docks. One suggestion was that this new RR will simply operate the new Ironville Docks trackage currently being built (off the NS near the Wheeling bridge) but some of the 'hints' dropped seem to suggest more than that plus I don't know why they'd need so many engines for just a small dock operation unless perhaps if they venture out of the dock operation to directly interchange unit trains with NS at local NS yards or something like that. All pure speculation on my part at this point - it'll be interesting to see what develops...

How about taking over the new intermodel facility at Airline Jct?

I highly suspect these are going to be for the Ironville Docks and Port of Toledo operations run by Midwest Terminals. There people told me during the Ironville Docks "dedication" a few weeks ago that they would be getting two six-axles and some more four axles for the two locations.

Not that I don't believe that, but I wonder why they need all that power for such a small operation? Ironville docks looks like it'll occupy even less real estate than the Port of Toledo docks. As far as I know that first "Port of Toledo" Geep never seems to leave the Port property and is nearly impossible to get a (good) picture of.

The Blade article:

does reference a 100 car loop & loading/unloading unit trains so I guess they'll be used for moving those, even if just on the Ironville dock property. Oh well, was hoping for something new to shoot around town but if they stay in there all the time doing anything with that will be a challenge...

I can see the six axle unit used on the Archbold local out of Toledo.
