Trash day in Philly
Author: jonjonjonjon

I got out of the house towards the end of the day and pedaled down to the Schuylkill Banks park in Philadelphia to try out some of my new camera gadgets and see what CSX was up to.
I was caught off-guard by a northbound trash train pulled by one unit. Didn't have time to set up for video, so here are the stills — video to come...
Over the course of the next 2 hours I caught a southbound trash train, a northbound intermodal and another northbound trash train. Lots of trash seems to be moving these days through here.

Yes, a quiet zone. The red X's indicate that the pedestrian barriers at the crossing are working, so horn blowing would be unwelcome.

FYI: CSX runs east and west, not north and south thru Philadelphia. The eastbound trash train is all empties going back to New Jersey for reloading and moved west again loaded.
