Eastern Railroad Discussion > UP Heritage visits GeorgiaDate: 06/29/12 15:44 UP Heritage visits Georgia Author: djy23 Somehow, someway, NS I2G with UP 1989 Rio Grande Heritage unit on the point, was delayed just enough for some of us in Georgia to catch it in some rays of sunshine early this morning. Fun chase with good friends, here's what I managed to get!
All picture taken on the morning of Friday, 6/29/12 Picture 1 - I2G rolling past CP Taylor between Temple,GA & Villa Rica,GA. Picture 2 - 1989 cruising past CP Baggett in Villa Rica,GA. Picture 3 - 1989 barking through Douglasville,GA. Date: 06/29/12 15:46 Re: UP Heritage visits Georgia Author: toledopatch Nice stuff. Please keep us posted as to where the 1989 goes next.
Date: 06/29/12 15:48 Re: UP Heritage visits Georgia Author: djy23 Picture 4 - 1989 thru Douglasville,GA.
Picture 5 - 1989 leads I2G at CP Ben Hill in Lithia Springs,GA. Picture 6 - 1989 comes into Austell,GA. The power would then run light to Atlanta from here. Thanks for looking! Videos at youtube.com/guitars14 I dont have this chase uploaded yet however. Date: 06/29/12 15:57 Re: UP Heritage visits Georgia Author: alycidon Nice series of shots.

Date: 06/30/12 09:22 Re: UP Heritage visits Georgia Author: Bath_wildcat Out of all the UP hertiage units, this is the one I really want to see. I know a man who is a huge Rio Grande fan since back in 2003. Please keep us updated where she goes next, because if she heads north I will give him a call.
Tha last shot is totally killer, as I am wondering why that was not image of the day instead of the goodwell wreck photo (again poor taste trainorders making that image of the day where three people died in that wreck!). I've looked at several threads and checked for updates and didn't see any. So what happened to UP 1989? Is it still in Atlanta or did it leave town and no one catch it leaving? Date: 07/01/12 14:23 Re: UP Heritage visits Georgia Author: djy23 Thanks for the kind comments, 1989 went west on NS #225 which goes to Long Beach. It could conceivably lead 226 or 22G back to Atlanta. A couple months back, 2001 went back & forth between ATL & LA on 226/225 for a few weeks.

I didn't get it when it came in town (I'm in Alabama) because I was at work, then the "heads up" from a group of people I know didn't come over until after it passed my house. Very nice pictures! Congrats on the catch.
