Eastern Railroad Discussion > NS Baretable QuestionDate: 07/15/12 12:20 NS Baretable Question Author: strench707 Hey guys,
An NS baretable train (with only three double stacks and a massive baretable consist)just went by Cresson, PA calling as NS 914. I thought this was a Welded Rail Train symbol so why was he calling as this? Thanks for any help, Davis Date: 07/15/12 12:49 Re: NS Baretable Question Author: vardoyardo It might it have been an I4Z instead of a 914, they would sound similar over the radio. I4Z would then make sense as a baretable extra section of 24Z.

Just curious because BNSF ran a B BARNSA7 train (Barstow, CA-Norfolk Southern Ashland Ave) earlier this week, and it'd be interesting to me if it was actually the same train. Date: 07/15/12 15:04 Re: NS Baretable Question Author: onblock Eastbound train matching your description now approaching Newport PA calling his train I4Z, has 9876 leading train consisting almost entirely of empty well cars.

Yes, lots of those, not sure if its your BNSF though but its a possibility. Thanks guys for the I4Z symbol! Davis Date: 07/15/12 19:41 Re: NS Baretable Question Author: zchcsse strench707 Wrote:

I couldn't be certain either, but just wondering if it was possible. I followed that baretable all day long between Needles, CA and Winslow, AZ. Date: 07/16/12 16:46 Re: NS Baretable Question Author: PCTZ Sunday June 15 was a record day for I section trains on the Pittsburgh line...at least 6 "eye" trains ran including I4Z, I94, I4W, I1V, I0T and I1Z. I'm guessing most were bearable trains. Recently saw an I3N and I0K, both were, the first empty wells and the other empty spines. There is talk of NS trying to segregate stack and tofc traffic...has anyone heard of this?
