Eastern Railroad Discussion > 3 questionsDate: 03/06/01 11:14 3 questions Author: CP101 First has anybody heard of the Allegheny Valley RR in Columbus, Ohio? I don't live to far north of there and I have never heard of it before I know they have one engine though a GP10 #7559 I think, but what line would this railroad be on. There are 3 short lines that I know of in Columbus: Camp Chase, Indiana&Ohio Central, and Columbus&Ohio River(Ohio Central). Second does the connection track at Sidney, Ohio take westbound trains from the Indianapolis Line down south on the Toledo Sub? Third does anybody know the where abouts of the Grand Trunk's 3 GP38DC's (#'s 6200-6203)which were ex. DT&I are at? I would love to see pics. if any.

Date: 03/06/01 11:20 2 answers Author: toledopatch The Allegheny Valley RR. is in the Pittsburgh area. The Ohio Central just bought the Pittsburgh Industrial Railroad and renamed it the Pittsburgh & Ohio Central, but I have no indication that the Allegheny Valley was involved in that transaction. If it was, that might explain an A.V.RR. engine's appearance in Columbus.
The new connection at Sidney allows westbound trains on the Big Four to go south on the Toledo Sub. and northbound trains on the Toledo Sub. to go east on the Big Four. Date: 03/06/01 12:30 GTW GP-38 answer Author: Kevin_Tweed Tom,

Date: 03/06/01 13:14 RE: GTW GP-38 answer Author: GTWFAN Correction, only 3 of the 6200's are re#ed . 6200,6201, and 6203 are 4994,95,96. These 3 were rebuilt with new electronics in 90-92? I believe, also the nose light was removed. 4997,98,99 are ex-5800's.
5800,07,10 I believe. The other units 6202,04,05 are LLPX 2200's now if im not mistaken . |
