Toledo Ore Railway Company. Or something similar to that.

Founded way back when, and it served the docks. It was a subsidiary of the C&O.

Kinda like the B&O Chicago Terminal was a seperate railroad (with engines marked for the B&OCT) but part of the B&O.

Take care

I think it is the Toledo Ore Co. Used at the Docks when Lake Erie Shipping is in full swing. I was just glad to be able to see it twice! Especially with two other trains at South Deshler. Nice day for a bike ride.

Family Line Unit
Author: Deshlerrailfan

Sorry it took so long. I was on my bicycle. I didn't have a pen and paper but I did take lots of pics. I could see that the the second unit was numbered 7078 in one of the pics. I needed room for gloves and a hat. When Spring arrives I'll have room for those items. I can't wait 'cause I want to make my annual trip to Hamler.

I did have a great time chasing that train on two wheels. Deshler is a great place to chase trains and check signals on two wheels!

Amazing- I caught the Family Lines one eastbound in Brunswick, MD Sunday, 3/12 at about 9:30 or so. Looked pretty beat up. I can post something a lot clearer as soon as I get it scanned if anyone wants to see it. Anybody know the history of this guy?

Was jointly owned by Conrail and CSX until the merger, when CSX obtained Conrail's share. This unit and its sister, TORC 998, seem to roam around town fairly regularly in CSX's local switching operations, and occasionally stray farther than that (as you folks observed in Deshler yesterday). On Saturday, I saw the 999 lead a transfer up to CN Lang Yard while the 998 was coupled onto a string of hoppers at the coal dock. TORCo owns only the iron ore dock; the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority owns the coal dock.

These two ex-C&O SD40's replaced a pair of ex-Chessie SD35's, 7801 and 7802, that survived until about three or four years ago and were used in similar service -- mostly switchers, transfers, and locals, but occasionally out on the road.

I didn't think the two trailing units were under power. Figured they were headed south for inspections.

Mesquite Beef, Mesquite Pork or, my favorite, Jalapeno Beef. Prices, $14.99/lb., are up a little but yum yum. Don't forget the Hamler Summerfest too!
