NS TRAINS IN MEMPHIS
Author: GP-40X

Where does the ZNSLA originate. And how many trains are
handed to the UP that travels down the old Cotton Belt.
I know the ZNSLA does and what else? I saw a train today
pass through Fordyce with a NS ex CR c40-8W, 2 high nose
NS GP38-2's, and a UP C44-9W. It had a NS EOT too. Was
headed to Englewood TX.

Try a post on the memphisrailfans yahoo e-group. Someone there should be able to help you. I lived in Memphis most of my life but I've lost track of things the last few years.

Last I checked, the train was symboled as the ZNSLC & it originates off the NS at Atlanta. Runs as NS 225 to Memphis where it is handed over to the UP.

Handed to the UP from what railroad? The NS hands the UP three westbounds here at Memphis.

UP also sends three eastbounds to the NS here. They also send trains to the CSXT and CNIC, all here at Memphis. I believe a few of these, well I know a few of them utilize former SSW trackage.

If my memory is correct, Fordyce would be southwest of Pine Bluff. Depending on when you saw it, that was probably the power off of the MMEPBB. It usually heads for Texas from Pine Bluff.
