I think what im_trainman means is that it is nearly impossible to predict where a freight train* will pass by a certain location. I learned this the hard way on this past Friday.

The Heritage Units website showed that NS 1073, the Penn Central Heritage locomotive, passed through Blawknox (located 10 miles northeast of Pittsburgh). I estimated that it would take three hours to get to the Horseshoe Curve and drove out there from Pittsburgh in the hopes of getting a photo of 1073 descending the Curve. Upon arriving at the Curve, I asked a couple of guys if they saw the 1073 and they said it did not pass through yet. One had an app which indicated that the locomotive was only halfway between Pittsburgh and Altoona. I decided to stay at the Curve to take in the NS action and left at 4:30 to return to Pittsburgh. Upon arriving home, I checked Heritage Units and found that 1073 was reported at Bolivar, PA at 2:15. I didn't need to drive all of the way to the Curve! The 1073 did not arrive in Altoona until after 6:00.

So yes, anyone who can predict the location of a freight can also predict the winning lottery numbers!

*Maybe this generalization should exclude intermodal trains? But the NS Heritage units are not typically assigned to those trains anyway.

That's what I meant Rule G, a source in the field said that the 14n is near CP 219 now, getting close to Berea.

Barring any setbacks it should be thru Berea by now....

If anyone here catches the engine number for the trailing GP60, I'd like it for my log.

8100 reported through Cleveland around 1PM on HU.com. I was in Cleveland by the tracks around that time and heard nothing. Any actual verification?
