Boy struck, killed by train in Beaver County PA

A boy, 12, was killed after being hit by a train Friday evening in Beaver, police said.

Investigators said Joshua Nicol was playing near the tracks with friends, when he was struck by a CSX freight train while trying to cross the tracks about 6 p.m.

The engineer blew the train’s horn, but Nicol tried to cross the tracks near East End Avenue at the last minute, said Beaver County deputy coroner William Pasquale Jr.

Police are still investigating.
