Eastern Railroad Discussion > Ridgeway, OH new connection

I heard from a pretty good source that CSX has begun work on the connection in the Northeast corner at Ridgeway, OH. When finished, the Marion-North Baltimore segments of Q106 and 107 will use this connection instead of the present routing via Fostoria which requires a time-consuming back-up move at Marion. Sounds like the OC north of Ridgeway will be a good place to shoot KCS Belles, with the N. Baltimore-St Louis segments of Q106 & 107 already operating that way.

The Toledo Branch already is a good place to shoot Belle's (by Ohio standards!) and there's definitely some heavy duty construction going on at Ridgeway with several dump trucks and a bunch of guys at work when I was there this last Saturday. Here's a Q107 swinging around the connection to head west with the tail end of the train coming off the Branch visible to the left of the leader.

Both turnouts were installed on 11-19. Also once track is completed it will be used as hand throw turnouts in and out of transfer.

Hoping to fly over here in a few weeks...

Interesting...one would have thought a least a power operated switch on the Bee Line side...but I guess that would mean a signal, etc, etc...etc...

Wonder if they will dispatch a crew van out to Ridgeway every time they need to use the connection.

Signal cutover will be in second quarter of 2013.. Transfer is to be put in service asap
