Correct. 9006 was Reading. All the rest with number boards were PRR.
Edited to add that the two without number boards were also ex-
Reading.

Boy, those still seem like such good, solid cars that it's a shame there are no buyers available to rebuild them for continued service. Of course, bi-levels and multi-level cars are all the rage so that doesn't help the market for single level cars.

A couple should go to preservation.

Most likely those were the ones sitting in Woodbourne yd since early last spring. Shame to see them go.

Even though the cars are going to scrap, the move itself is a real nice catch Bob. I like the lead engine.

The 9006 and 9007 are definitely ex-Reading. The rest are ex-Pennsy. Rode the 9000's from their introduction until shortly before they were retired and while sturdy they were showing their age and 60's technology. Rebuilding them would probably not have been worth the expense but it pulls a string or two to see Philadelphia area, and fallen giant Budd Co., history headed to scrap.

Now why am I looking at those and envisioning them on a reborn Colorado Front Range Ski Train, with a few modifications, of course. Naaaah, never happen. === === = === JLH

The order of the cars from north to south were 212-9012-219-259-9006-9007 and were the last batch sent from Wayne Electric Car Yard to CSX-Woodbourne on 10/18/12

14 of them are being rebuilt by California, as intercity cars for on the San Joaquin Valley Trains.

New equipment is4 years or more away.
