Crude Oil Train on ex-PRR Schuylkill Valley Branch
Author: RDG630

NS crude oil train 64D used a small part of one of the few remnants of the former PRR Schuylkill Valley Branch at Pottstown, Pa this morning. The train, powered by NS 9794/BNSF 7233/BNSF 704 used the track for head room to shove the cars into the former Reading Yard at Stowe. Conrail put in a connecting track between the former Reading main line to the old PRR branch after much of the parallel PRR line was torn up after the creation of Conrail. The western campus of the Montgomery County Community College is seen in the second photo. Tough location for photos with trees on the sunny side.

the industrial ends about a mile east ... their just staging the oil train because Pavonia is plugged from the Paulsboro bridge accident which now the news is saying Coast Guard estimates 4-5 more days before they can start to remove the cars ... the crude is going to Westville,NJ on Conrail

The ties are for T&S work for the Pottstown Industrial.

The new bulk facility on the branch is getting switched 5 times a week at night plus Chapel steel still gets a few loads a month off the industrial branch side as well as the main. See this thread:

I wonder if 64D knows there's a restriction on 6 axle engines on the branch because of the curve at Rt 100?
