CSX around Barberton and Akron on NCS
Author: agrafton

Yesterday I tried a little train chasing and was fortunate to catch quite a little bit of action on the NCS New Castle Sub
through Barberton and Akron. First up while in Barberton I caught the Q015 w/b past the remains of a bridge pier they I
took down in 2005 and 06. From there up to Lambert interlocking where the 2 track goes 1 down to Warwick, coming around the curve
lights reflecting in the rails as the Q137 pulls up to a stop and waits on a green signal before heading west. A green signal and the Q137
heads west passing the twin signals mast. Heading back east I catch the Q276 coming past the old B. F. Goodrich chemical plant
at BG132 on track two and before I can blink ABC’s Z642 is e/b on track 1 heading for their connection at BG129.
As I head back I catch the K671 coming through Akron at BG131. On scanner I hear the Q016 e/b through Barberton and head back to Lambert
to catch it on the single track, I do then after Q016 passes ABC’s other train the Z642 comes reversing through Lambert to their
connection at BG135.
Thanks for looking,
Alan

Very nice, Alan, I especially like that second image.

What's the status of the CPLs around there, do you have any idea? They're about all gone from Maryland...had to make several trips to Kent this fall but never had any spare time; may need to go back for them.

Thanks--

Mike

Alan, looks like you had yourself a good day. Is the Old Goodrich plant still operational? Conductor looks safe in his own little dugout : )

Thanks, John yes the chemical plant is still in operation under a new owner. The conductor on the stone train rides about four miles hanging on the ladder.

The guy in the last pic is doing it wrong. On the BNSF if such behavior were to be spotted by an official, he'd first be allowed to finish his work Because everybody knows he's safest right where he is, even the official administering the humiliating punishment of removal from service... But I digress, after being allowed to return to the yard office, he'd be pulled from service pending a full investigation, piss tested, sent home without pay, and placed on a 3 year "level S" subject to permanent dismissal and a mark left in his record that he's a danger to himself and those around him. That guy is obviously drunk or high on something. I hope someone can jump out from the weeds to save him from himself in time! OH the humanity!
