Eastern Railroad Discussion > W&LE trains and the OHCR Polar ExpressDate: 12/12/12 13:55 W&LE trains and the OHCR Polar Express Author: Poker2662 On December 8th, a light engine move went east through Bolivar, Ohio with W&LE 103 and 100. At first, I hadn't considered railfanning that morning, but when I heard they were meeting westbound train 213 at Winter's Spur, it was worth seeing each train. The 103 and 100 backed into Winter's Spur to clear up for the 213. We went to Eberhart Road Crossing just outside of Zoar, Ohio, to watch the 213 pass an older style of grade crossing signal. The 213 had W&LE 111, 108, 4003, and 6315 with a long train of stonecars and tankcars. The 213 cleared Winter's Spur, and the 103 continued east. I got a picture of them crossing over I-77, then chased them east to New Cumberland, where the crew got into the 100 and took the train back west for an unknown reason.
We then made our way down to Dennison to see the OHCR Polar Express Prepare for their 2PM run. I got a few pictures, but the rain was relentless, and I would have to wait until later for more pictures. We came back to Dennison later and I got pictures of the Polar Express waiting at the Dennison Depot for their westbound 6PM run. 1) W&LE 103 and 100 wait in Winter's Spur in Bolivar, locked in to let train 213 pass by. 2) W&LE train 213 with the 111 leading passes by Eberhart Road in Zoar, Ohio. 3) The 103 and 100 pass over I-77 east of Bolivar. (Notice the N&W herald on the bridge.) Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 12/12/12 17:54 by Poker2662. C&O 2-8-4 #2700 sits at the Dennison Depot, rusting.
5) At 5:55PM, OHCR 3340, on the west end of the Polar Express, waits to head west out of Dennison. The Polar Express is running this weekend as well. Here is the link for train departure times and additional info for those who are interested. http://dennisondepot.org/new_website/event-schedule/polar-express/) Thanks for looking, Happy Holidays.
