Eastern Railroad Discussion > Wheeling & Lake Erie Westland TurnDate: 12/15/12 15:09 Wheeling & Lake Erie Westland Turn Author: PCTZ One of the more predictable Wheeling & Lake Erie movements is WE 643, also known as the Westland turn. It operates from Rook yard in Pittsburgh to the new rail load out for MarkWest on the recently rebuilt former Montour Ry Westland branch. This 3.5 mile line was relaid on the former roadway next to the Montour bike trail. It serves the booming Marcellus gas fields in Washington county by shipping out propane and butane separated from the natural gas before it is piped out. Very easy to follow and usually returns to Rook in a few hours. See more at: http://www.raildok.blogspot.com
