Speeding Acelas in the setting sun
Author: jonjonjonjon

Been awhile since I've been able to get back to Cornwells Heights (Just north of Philly) with camera in hand. Or I should say with 2 cameras in hand - I was able to try out my new point-and-shoot Pentax Optio WG-II for B-roll, and it seems to be up to the task. In the little over an hour I was there, I saw 3 Acelas (missed one on film), 2 Keystones (missed filming one of those too), 2 locals, one long-haul (Silver Meteor) and a Regional.
Much better than watching the Super Bowl.

Nice videos and stills. I agree it's better watching than the super bowl but how do you keep warm between trains?

It wasn't so cold yesterday - not much wind, so it wasn't bad since the sun was out. When it's colder, I have spots picked out where I can just drive up, set up the camera nearby and stay in the car with the heater running and use the remote control for the camera. Lazy, but effective.

What's with all the bolts in the track in the foreground?

How far south does the Meteor remain electrified?

Those are the plug rails installed after rails with Sperry defects are cut out. They sometimes come in clusters like that.

All the way to Washington, DC. About 153 more miles.

Nice videos, but better than the Super Bowl? I take it you're not a football fan!

Nor am I: FTS. Enjoyable video to see on a section of track not commonly seen here on TO. Thanks for posting them.
