CofG 8101 on 229
Author: GeorgiaRailfan31602

Reported thru HU.com that Central of Georgia is leading NS 229 into the Cincinnati area. Any one with info if it will stay on this train all the way? Its happened before similar scenario but it was a scheduling conflict which caused the power to be swapped in Ohio. Hoping for better results this time around.

Update on 229 is Southbound at Danville, KY still with 8101 in lead position. Maybe this is good news that it will make it down here.

I'll be watching this one, as well. Hope to catch her South of Atlanta tomorrow.

The last time I stayed up late, 229 went through Macon around 4:30 a.m.

Heritageunits.com reports it was stopped in Hustonville, KY at 3:01PM. Not sure what the deal is there, perhaps a crew change? Hopefully NS isn't planning on swapping out the power.

I wouldn't read too much into the absence of "direction of travel" in that Hustonville report. "Heritage" rarely includes that information in his/her reports.

Eh, I'm not. A reliable source I have in Chatt got a report around 5:30 that it had left Burnside, KY. At that rate, I may wind up missing it. We'll see if we can get perfect timing Saturday morning.

If I had to guess he would be there in between 10:30 AM and 11:30 AM. When he departs Valdosta I will have a better idea of when for sure.
