NS Pokey Action at Wharncliffe, WV
Author: jrss

Decided to spend my first day off this week taking some pictures. I set up at Wharncliffe, MP 437.9, at the entrance to the Gilbert Branch on Norfolk Southerns Pocahontas Division. Wharncliffe is approximately 31 rail miles east of Williamson. I know these are not the best pictures you'll see here, but I did enjoy myself this cold morning. I do hope you enjoy looking at these. As always, I appreciate any and all advice.

Picture #1 BNSF leading westbound double stacks

Picture #2 Pair of ES40DC's with westbound empties starting up the Gilbert Branch

Picture #3 SD60 6699 leads eastbound coal loads admittedly...not my best shot

Like your photos, before reading your post the first photo has the feel of a cold damp morning.
Well done.

As mentioned in the earlier post, Wharncliffe is on NS' Pocahontas Division approximately 31 rail miles east of Williamson. I hope you enjoy looking at these pictures, and yes I know they are not the best. I'm still a rookie. I appreciate any advice and tips.

I like the third, because it is a
good image of the slanted windshields.

Thanks

I will say thanks. As just starting a Layout it is interesting to see the mountains without the tree's and leaves blocking the rock formations. Being older mountains not as many outcrops as I would imagine.
thanks again
