Freight traffic over Delair Bridge (NJ-PA)
Author: OCtrainguy

I was wondering if anyone knows how many freight trains access the Delair Bridge. I know NJT runs their Atlantic City freights over it, but wanted to know about freights in/out of Pavonia Yard in Camden.

Delair bridge has one track for freight and one for passenger. All freights into and out of Pavonia (except for South Jersey locals) cross the Delaware on the Delair bridge.

NJT *passenger* trains to A.C. from Philly (and vice versa) also use the bridge.

Freight trains that do (or did) use the bridge include:

NS 18E Conway-Pavonia
NS 19E Pavonia-Conway
NS 48G Allentown-Pavonia
NS 49G Pavonia-Allentown
NS 500 series coal trains bound for South Jersey plants (frequency varies)
Conrail Shared Assets local transfer move from S. Philly Yard to Pavonia and return (C-788, I believe)

I'm sure I may have missed some and, if so, that someone will add more info.

C788 is the Stoney Creek local and C759 is the South Philly-Camden local.
