Also, the units were not necessarily rebuilt in kind, i.e., a B-30-7 could become a Super 7 B-23. By the way, the crews on the Monongahela really liked their Super 7 B-23s.

to my knowledge, NO Dash-7 locomotives were ever converted to Super-7s. The base for the Super-7s has been old U-series locomotives. The Monongahelas Super-7s started out as U23Bs from various lineages.

C&O had an entire group of U23Bs built with EMD Blomberg trade-in trucks.

Author: brc600 The Monongahela Super 7's were all ex Western Pacific U23B's like the GE demo Super 7's were. Other Super 7's for Canada were ex ATSF and MP U23B's, IIRC.
