NS heritage SD70ACe's
Author: WLE2679

Hello,

Here are the rosters of the 10 EMD heritage units I have taken so far to go long with the GE's posted earlier.

1) S&A 1065 at Rose Yard waiting for a crew change in Altoona PA on an eastbound coal train for Baltimore in mid October 2012.
2) NYC 1066 at Berea Ohio on 6/2/13 on an eastbound mixed freight.
3) RDG 1067 on 776 heading west at Orrville, Ohio. Since this was a trailing unit, I worked in the name on the water tower to give a sense of location.

More to come.

5) VGN 1069 at Attica on train 218 on 4/6/13.
6) Wabash 1070 at Berea Ohio after engine swap with a 553 and a double stack on 2/16/13.

4 More.

9) PC 1073 on a 65R at Lewistown, PA on 7/12/13.

LOL! I do remember seeing a couple of people on that bridge and said something unusual must be coming as we pulled up.....then the train come around the curve down by "Works". Altoona area has been a great place to see the heritage units the last few times we have been there.

Good you got 'em. I'm not a fan of nose coupled roster photos at all, so I've waited until they have been leaders or uncoupled, hence still looking for my last one in the wild, the Erie. I save my time and energy and $$ for when they lead. Funny how some have been through many times but a select few are really elusive in certain areas.

OK, so I know a lot of you fellow TOer's are going to disagree... but I *LIKE* seeing these heritage units DIRTY.

Looking at the thumbnails, the Reading and CNJ units look great... and after staring at them a minute or to, it hit me... it's the dirt.

Not that they have much, but those streaks of dirt on the fuel tanks makes them look like the real deal from back in the day, not some pristine replica.

e.g. look at that Reading unit brings me back to 1977... reminds me of one of those CR 3600s before being painted blue.

When you don't have an engine on the front, try a side shot, like the one attached. That way you don't see much of what is in front or behind. Just a suggestion. I know what you mean...this one I have seen many times, but others it has been one and done for me so far. Hopefully the Erie and Conrail come back this way.
