Would anyone be able to tell how much starting and continuous TE CSX's 4300hp 70MACs have? Both the modified and built new units please.

I think our moderator Chris can give you this. Not being an Eastern RRer, however, I can tell you that we got a LOT of those on the UPRR. And there was just something about them, between there extra weight and that extra 300 HP? That made them pack a HECK of a PUNCH!!! I.E., they are "hotrods." And to be honest with you, I preferred them greatly over the UPRR's own SD9043ACs. Which had the same HP but not quite the weight. I LOVE those units!!!

200,000lbs starting tractive effort. I don't recall the continuous tractive effort. The SD70MAC's have been derated to 4000hp now as well.

I'm guessing the extra 300hp didn't make a difference to the low speed lugging ability?
