Here is the latest news as to what will happen to the four (4) GTW loco's in the head-on crash.
#243 Units- GTW 4931, 4913 : will be scrapped on site
#533 Units- GTW 4922, 5919 : 4922 will be scrapped on site
5919 had some rear damage, pilot,coupler, handrails and will be
repaired

A bit more importantly, does anyone know how the surviving crew members are doing?

The two crew members on E243 were the two that perished in the accident. Both crew members on the local survived. One crew member had his right leg amputated up around the thy area. I understand he is doing reasonably well, all things considered. The other crew member was basically just in a state of massive shock, and from those who I have spoken with on the GTW have said, I do not believe he is doing especially well.

Hopefully, both of the survivors recover, as well as could be expected, considering what both have been through. There was another fatality on the Bluford Sub at Sedgwick, IL, the following day. That one was another odd occurence, however, it was in the Engineering Department.
