It was a point during a recent safety committee meeting. The increasing fad of flash night shots is drawing attention, and not positive attention.

Had permission of owners of house and property. Crew seemed to be fine also as they gave a friendly whistle afterward.

Gotta think the element of surprise and uncertainty is a bigger deal than "blindness" from a flash that quick, and that can be cured, at least for most, by firing off an early flash as the train approaches.

I guess we can't operate during thunderstorms now? File a safety issue with that.

These are not big bulbs. At 1/1000 of sec flash duration you have to be looking right at them and not blink.
