Plant City, FL Railfest this weekend.
Author: Narr8rdanny

Workers on the new Trainwatching platform & tower prepare the stairs for a Rhino coat in advance of this weekend's Plant City Railfest.

The event will officially open the Plant City Rail viewing platform and Robert W. Willaford train Museum.

Activities begin on Friday with "Family Movie Night". Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy two train movies in the open air of the depot museum lawn. Free popcorn and Blue Bell Ice Cream (while it lasts).

Saturday is train watching day starting with the museum opening at 9:00AM and the dedication ceremony at 11. Bob Willaford has donated virtually his entire railroad collection to the museum. From a completely restored Seaboard caboose, a Whitcomb switcher locomotive, semaphore signals, track speeders and motorcars, even a track diamond he rescued from the brick streets of Tampa's Ybor City. All will be on display starting Saturday.

Lunch from 11:30A to 2:00P featuring Plant City's best barbecue, side and a drink. $5.00 per meal.

Two local bands will provide entertainment all afternoon.

Of course, the CSX trains will be the star of the show for some of us. :-))

The Robert W. Willaford Museum and Viewing Platform is located at 102 N. Palmer St, Plant City, FL 33563.

Good luck!

It looks like you'll have decent weather. the NOAA forecast for Saturday
calls for a 20% chance of showers in the morning. Then partly sunny skies
with a high of about 83.
