Cant speak to ALTO, but the station parking isnt too bad. You can park on the west side of the tracks, just beside the bus stop or you can cross the tracks on 17th St bridge and go down to the museum. You'll have to wind through the property but there are several spaces back there. Good hunting.

Parking lot is good this time of year since the vegetation is down. If the weather is nice, you can set up right underneath the walking bridge. That would be pretty much wide open....Roadrat

Boyer Candy will let you park in their outlet store lot (we asked.) It's directly across from Alto.
Is there any word on moving Alto yet?

Moving Alto?? You can't move it yet, Because it is still in
Service 24 hours a day. And there isn't any talk of closing
it until around June or July if that happens. I think NS has
more, and bigger problems on thier mind than closing a tower,
and moving it. As for going to Altoona, Why go there at all.
The shooting possibilities are not that great any way. I am
very surprised that Roadrat didn't say something about this.
So I will say it for him. LOL!!! Head up to the Top of the
Mountain, Gallitzin, Cresson, Lilly, Cassandra, etc. Meaning
the "West Slope" Just don't tresspass, or Roadrat may have
to poke your tires LOL!!! Just Kidding, Have Fun, and Be
Safe. ;^)

Been up the slope several times. haven't been in town for many a year. would like to get shots with the tower. Speaking of which, how about AR tower? I am reluctant to go there on the ground, so far shooting from the overpass with telephoto.
