Eastern Railroad Discussion > Big Sandy, TX, Part 1 of 2Date: 03/02/14 06:27 Big Sandy, TX, Part 1 of 2 Author: nancyg If you have never been to the Big Sandy, TX, our first time, you might find this interesting.
It is the crossing of two UP Subs. The e/w Mineola Sub, and the n/s Pine Bluff Sub, and the Corsica Sub.. The last two come together at Big Sandy, TX. I found the elevated curves leading into and out of Big Sandy unique. nancyg http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,3339290 Date: 03/02/14 08:39 Re: Big Sandy, TX, Part 1 of 2 Author: railsunlimited In pre-merger days, Big Sandy was the crossing between the Missouri Pacific (Texas & Pacific) – the line to Mineola, Marshall and on to Texarkana or Shreveport. The other line was the Cotton Belt (Southern Pacific) – to Pine Bluff, Ark. Big Sandy also figures in Cotton Belt History as the terminus of the Tyler Tap Railroad, a Cotton Belt predecessor.
