NS 42G Derailment in Delaware, Ohio
Author: Ohiorailfan

After hearing about 42G derailing in Delaware, Ohio. Andy Leffler and I drove up to see what we could find. We were only able to shoot from the south side of the derailment.

I got some shots of the train on Sunday evening in Bellevue waiting to head East down the W&LE to Clarksfield with empties. The cream and green BNSF leader caught my attention.

looks like emergency brake application (head end/engines) slowed down much faster than the back end..?

EDIT: GREAT Pics !

My guess would be a brakehose hanging too low clipped the crossing causing the air to dump.

Looks like traffic started moving again around 900pm.

So the "experts" are chiming in. You guys don't have a clue and neither does the company. They will find the cause through a proper investigation. At this point I do know for a fact that the crew is in the clear as the data download proved nothing they did contributed to this mess. This is what really pisses me off with buffs...they think they know ALL the answers but in reality you guys know next to NOTHING.

Hey SALGUY, take a sedative, will ya? These guys said the were GUESSING, not that they KNOW, as you assert.

What's wrong with guessing, especially if one states it as such?

I made a lot of guesses in the hours after Lac Megantic and caught hell for it; turns out I was right.

Just for clarification a lookup of the definition:

guess

verb
1. estimate or suppose (something) without sufficient information to be sure of being correct.
