Eastern Railroad Discussion > Mid Atlantic Rail Operations StudyDate: 07/18/02 09:40 Mid Atlantic Rail Operations Study Author: Twinbrook Most of us have probably seen the maps and articles already. There is an article on the Trains Magazine web site and print edition (August, 2002) that outlines the plan.
http://www.trains.com/Content/Dynamic/Articles/000/000/002/406chisx.asp This proposal affects rail service in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, DC and Virginia. Conspicuous by its absence is the proposal that CSX made to improve clearances and capacity on the Magnolia Cutoff. Of particular interest to me is the proposal to add a third track to the CSX Capitol Subdivision. Would this imply rebuilding WMATA's Green Line bridge near College Park? The plan is interesting, comprehensive and long-term. Stay tuned. |
