Eastern Railroad Discussion > N&W 8103 Through Youngstown Yesterday

Greetings. Yesterday, I had found out that NS 8103 (N&W) would be coming south from Ashtabula on 581. Original reports had it trailing, but somehow the power was spun in Ashtabula and 8103 was put on the lead, which made catching it more exciting. So I headed out to Hubbard Rd. on the north side of Youngstown to wait on it. While waiting, caught a work train symbolled 944 going south toward Haselton, and then after waiting for a little while longer, the train made its appearance and made for a chase down beyond Youngstown to Lowellville, where I met up with Alan Savage and Jeff (FEC2000). Here are my shots. Enjoy!

#1. NS 944 approaches Hubbard Rd. crossing through the former location of CP 54 with a repainted ex-BN SD40-2 leading a CSX ES40DC.

#2. 581 now approaches Hubbard Rd. with N&W 8103 leading the way.

#4. 581 now comes through Lowellville, OH, approaching MP 65. The roof of the former PRR station can be seen to the right of the train.
