Via faceook: WTAJ-TV - Viewers have been sending in photos of this train derailment in Altoona along 10th Ave. WTAJ News is headed to the scene and will have additional details shortly. ** UPDATE ** ... at 9:40AM, nine cars carrying new cars derailed in Altoona. Radio chatter here in Toledo, where an eastbound ethanol train was tied down because of this mess, indicated 27 on the ground. If so, that'll be rather expensive for NS, because every vehicle in every derailed autorack will have to be destroyed.

telling Eastbound 20R at Fostoria, because of a derailment in Pa. they will be routed Bellevue to Sandusky, Ohio. From that point 20R would use the X-Conrail Water Level. I do not know where 20R terminates, but it looks like when it gets to Cleveland from Sandusky it will take route Cleveland - Conneaut, Ohio on to Buffalo, N.Y. using the former NKP - N&W - Cleveland - Buffalo, Division. From that point 20R would use the x-Conrail Southern Tier. Correct me if I am wrong. I was listening to the feed. So all the passengers who needed to go to Altoona have to wait.. So Close yet so far.. Amtrak 04T turned around at the Y at Gallitzin... It will be interesting to see what they do with it after that -- down to Harrisburg via NS's trackage rights over CP to Sunbury? Have not they > done that before? NS 20R is a stack train. If they ran it via Port Jervis, why would it have to take the Susquehanna to get to Croxton? They could just run it into NJ on the Erie, with an NS crew handling the move from Campbell Hall east.... Either go through Croxton, Kearny out the P&H then back up at west end of Oak Island. Or back up at cp1 onto national docks secondary to access eport
