The rear unit is used to build the outbound train, then gets left behind for the next one. No need for DPU's on an empty train. I was surprised to see one operating DPU on yesterday's 67z through Phillipsburg NJ, with three engines up front. First time I've seen that happen. I figured they wanted the power someplace west. |
