Good thing this wasn't oil spilling. The New River is one of America's last free running natural rivers. At least that's how it's advertised. Date: 09/27/14 21:23 Re: Derailment on the New River Author: darkcloud Lackawanna484 Wrote:

Fayette station rd reaches the New river just south of the New River bridge. CSX tracks are on both banks of the river at this point. Not clear as to which side it derailed from.

Posted from iPhone Date: 09/28/14 20:47 Re: Derailment on the New River Author: kpcmcpkva Yes, there is a dam below Hawks Nest. The river flows south to north thru the New River Gorge. At Hawks Nest state park, where the cable lift can take you from the rim to the rivers edge, CSX sends one of it's two tracks from the west bank to the east bank of the river.
I strongly recommend the state operated lodge for an overnight or two stop, as it has great views of the gorge and the rail operations in it Date: 09/29/14 03:56 Re: Derailment on the New River Author: Lackawanna484 So the advertising is wrong?
