Late yesterday afternoon, I was returning from the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad's Steel Wheel Festival on Route 219 in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Upon approaching Meyersdale, I opted not to take the bypass, but instead turn onto "Old 219" which took me through the borough.

I came across this CSX Operation Redblock caboose. Except for some broken and missing windows, it is in pretty decent shape - much better than the few CSX cabooses I saw in the 1990s.

Yes......And?........It is used as a shoving cab for coal hoppers going down to the Shaw Mine loadout just south of Meyersdale. The picture below was taken in 2005
