New Hope & Ivyland diesels working yesterday
Author: OCtrainguy

I was in the New Hope area yesterday, so I decided to stop at Lahaska and wait for the eleven o'clock train from New Hope. I didn't think that #40 was running, so I wasn't surprised when I heard a diesel horn indicate an approaching train. I was figuring most likely their GP30, with the C30-7 second. I do like their paint scheme on those engines. Well I got a real surprise when I saw a red cab. Former Canadian National GP9, now lettered PN and numbered 7010 was handling the hourly excursions. Here are three photos of the PN 7010.

1. Arriving in Lakaska
2. The engine completed the runaround
3. Heading back to New Hope

I thought the hourly train would hold at Lahaska for the Fall Foliage train, but that wasn't the case. However, I decided to wait for it anyway.

Here are three photos of the Fall Foliage train.

1. Passing through Lakaska with a small amount of color in the background as C30-7 7087 leads
2. The train is heading back to Warminster with GP30 2198 leading as the train approaches the Holicong Road grade crossing south of Lahaska
3. To my surprise, I caught up to the train again at the next grade crossing, Upper Mountain Road. While the shadows were in full force, I liked how some of the trees looked, so I took this photo anyway.

The trees were mixed in the area, with some already bare, some in color and many still green. With yesterday's strong winds and a nor'easter being mentioned for a midweek arrival, I felt since I had the time, that I should go this weekend. Besides, the day was capped off with my daughter being happy picking out her own white pumpkin at nearby None Such Farms. Hope you enjoy the photos.

So that was you on Sunday I saw at Lahaska! That 7010 may not be much to look at, but it is a LOT of fun to operate. Such a sweet little engine. Nice stuff.
