Brunswick Action, Lease Units, Freight Cars
Author: GP35

I had the day off work today due to a jury service summons. Never made it onto any of the cases for the day so I was let go after a few hours of waiting. Won't have another summons for the next three years according to the jury coordinator. Since I have some extra time this afternoon I thought to share some of my Brunswick, Maryland pictures from this past Saturday October 25, 2014. I have several pictures you may find of interest in this posting. Have a trio of lease geeps leading D990-25 and some interesting freight car pics to share.

Was there from 9:35 am til 4:10 pm and noted 18 total train movements on the western end of the yard in that approximately six and a half hour period of time. In summary the trains witnessed in order were: L226-23, a yard job, Q370-24, N766, U883-23, U777-23, D789-25, L415-24, D667-25 helpers outbound, Q401-23, Q217-25, D990-25, E704-24, P030-25, U813-23, D667-25 helpers on return, Q416-24, and finally L373-25. Will be a long posting and I hope you may find the pics of interest.

First pic is of a yard job with CSX 8525 and 8504 for power. Shot across the Marc parking lot at 10:10 am.

Next two pics are of eastbound mixed freight Q370-24 led by CSX 143, 7894, and 7697 at Maple Avenue on track 2 10:20 am.

Hope you enjoy, Gilbert.

Next two are of mixed freight L415-24 led by CSX 3152 and 9028 coming into Maple Avenue for a quick crew change at 11:50 am. Train would head out at 12:02 pm.

Bottom pic is inbound Q401-23 led by CSX 388 and 5256 at Maple Avenue at 12:10 pm. This train would enter the yard and would not depart until the following day. The power would be turned most likely at Point of Rocks to get the 5256 in the lead for the trip over cab signaled old RF&P territory in Virginia.

Next two are of westbound autorack Q217-25 led by CSX 4048 and CEFX 3175 passing the closed WB Tower on track 1 at 12:15 pm. The 4048 would later cause problems and would be swapped out for a long hood forward C40-8 from train Q416-24 later in the day.

Bottom pic is of westbound D990-25 led by FURX 5530, FURX 5553, and HLCX 4210 coming out of the yard onto track 2 at 12:48 pm. Train had some covered hoppers up front and some MTIX aggregate rock cars for the remainder of the train heading for the Shenandoah Sub. Here it is at Maple Avenue at 12:48 pm.

Next three are of the returning D667-25 lite helper power returning to the yard at 3:25 pm. CSX 2487 and 7736 was the power that helped the U883-23 earlier in the day.

Next three are of westbound Q416-24 led by CSX 5451, 7618, 909, 2374, and 6974 pulling past WB Tower at 3:45 pm. This train would later give the ailing Q217-25 it's 7618 so the autorack train can make it to Cumberland, Maryland at low speed.

Love the freight cars without graffiti on them. Thank you for not posting any rotten graffiti, your photos look great.

I am amazed at the former Norfolk Southern units now being owned by FURX while at the same time Norfolk Southern is short on power and purchasing other used locomotives. What am I missing here?
