Vertex announcement in Wilmington, NC

Vertex Rail announced it will open a plant in Wilmington, NC to construct tank cars for crude oil. The plant will employ 1300 people and will enter operation next year, ramping to a capacity of 4500 cars/year.

CSX serves Wilmington. NS does not.

That's great news for Wilmington...no doubt about it. Given the map location of the plant, WTR will really benefit from this move...as would CSXT.

Interesting place to build a tank car and hopper plant...kind of the end of the road...off the beaten path...with no direct access to anything railroad.

This kind of assembly operation usually has a lot of subcontractors for wheels, trucks, brake rigging, piping, all kinds of materials. The job multiplier could be very significant.
