I'll be shocked if they're leading.

I was tempted to state that as an absolute, too, but recalled that railroads have sometimes "taken delivery" of new power in Ohio or Indiana for tax purposes, and that COULD have happened here, and once they're set up for operation they COULD lead. But evidently that did not happen in this case.

Correct, several times I have noticed delivery of new UP power in the lead. Not as common as a few years ago, never thought of the tax implications...anything change?

I have heard rumors going around that GE is going to ship the FEC's to another facility to receive paint. I'm not sure if this is true.

Correct. Most of the balance will be shipped in primer to Mid-America Car for paint, due to GE's huge backload of engines needing rebuilding, finishing, and paint.

That's not good for us Cleveland Railfans. I guess I'll have to go to Florida to see them (sigh).

801-810 have been painted by GE at Erie. GE may paint more due to a union agreement. 800 is still running around in primer. GE is shipping out the KCS and Iowa Interstate units for painting. Guess it will be a wait and see for the rest of the FEC order.

These made it to NA Tower a little before Noon and were still in Queensgate in the engine service area as of 9:20 pm Friday night. I had a bus route that crosses the Western Hills Viaduct so I could see these each trip.

Someone on the FEC list posted that they were handed off to Norfolk Southern at 1:20 this morning?
Anyone seem 'em since?

Let's see. Cleveland OH or Stuart FL in January or February? Sounds like a tough question, let me know what you decide.

(The grin icon suggests that some folks would find that search a reason to go to Florida. I'm sure folks in Cleveland will have plenty of interesting trains to see.

Welcome aboard!)

Painted FECs go via CSX. Primered FECs go via NS.
