8 FEC and 14 Roy Hill units at Erie today
Author: FEC2000

I caught the eight FEC units and 14 of the Roy Hill units ready to ship out of GE at Erie, PA. The Roy Hill units are headed for Australia and are under tarps. The eight painted FEC's will head out on CSX and the 14 Roy Hill's on NS with a buffer gondola at each end.

Probably will never see 8 FEC GEVOs together again once they hit Florida!

Roy Hill Western ES44Ci(HH) under tarps on the NS side. I'm pretty sure this completes the 14 unit order.

Tarp data and more Vale green GE's on flat cars awaiting final inspection before shipping. The Vale units are either 9-40BBW or ES58ACi units.

Vale's are ES58ACi. 244 is the first of the group.

Any reason the Roy Hills are covered and the FEC not?

Probably because the Ocean shipping company doesn't tarp the cargo, and the tarp will protect from salt spray buildup

Does GE run 24/7.Look like they can build loco's twice as fast as EMD.

Lots of good American jobs in Erie, and Fort Worth, etc. Even with the rise in the US dollar, furriners still come here to buy locomotives.

If you haven't gotten 'em already, book a ticket to Florida. There was plenty of warning.

RHA has 21 ES44ACis on order, not 14 so there's a few missing....those Vale units do appear to be ES58ACis.

They must be on next year's build schedule, only 14 were to be built this year. Hopefully I can catch them on the test track!

Those are various GE test locos that have been parted out or retired.

That last shot also shows CN 2912 being moved around by the shop switcher.
