Whippany Railroad Museum
Author: trainman7774

Hello All,

These are three pictures taken at the Whippany Railroad Museum. These shots were taken on Monday December 15, 2014.

I am new to digital photography and was trying out my new Canon Rebel T5.

I am looking for feedback on the photos.

Does the exposure look correct?

Are they sharp enough?

Any comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks.

Looks fine to me. I suggest you return to the museum and take shots of additional equipment and post here for our enjoyment. Keep up the good work.

I say pretty darn good for being new to digital photography. I love that box car in photo #2. Are there any other pictures to share?

Nice pictures. The RS-1 is somewhat faded, so you did well with the situation you had. In its recent prime, the gold paint stood out more sharply against the red of the body. Given the great work the museum has done on other exhibits, I'm sure this engine will have its day.

I was taught to experiment with the camera, and keep a notebook of what I do. So, find a stationary subject, and take a picture with aperture preferred. Then switch over to shutter at 1/500, then 1/250, and 1/125 etc. Compare the results. Repeat on a cloudy day, or with the light later in the day.

The Soo refer looks ready for a load of produce. Beautifully restored!

Looks like you're off to a good start. Practice manual vs automatic (programmed) settings so you can maximize the subject in question. Bytes are cheap!

Not bad. I just ordered a T5 bundle with the 75-300 lens for only $499.
