This kind of reminds me of a story I believe Ed Ellis told when he still had his Trains Magazine column. "The way you get ahead in railroad management"; You make a proposal showing that closing a particular facility will save the company x-millions per year. Get promoted and then make a proposal showing how reopening the same facility will save the company x-millions of dollars per year. Rinse and repeat.....

it's certainly not unique to railroad leadership - especially when performance incentives are involved..

Railway age states " When fully operational, the shop will have a staff of 23."

I am surprised at how few workers are involved for what it says it can do.

You're lucky enough to get a consist properly set up out the shop...none the less any defects repaired! Polish a turd and on it's way it goes!

Kind of like when the closed Stanley Yard in Toledo. But I think that was reopened because trains were lined up south as far away as Wapakoneta. Overall I think reopening the yard saved money. Who really knows.

Definitely a step in the right direction. It is hard to believe it was closed in 1992, according to the article.

Sounds like the way SEPTA "maintains" its diesel "fleet!"

Glad to see the CSX making a smart move in the Chicago area. Would love to know the history of the decision making on this one. Barr is #1.
