hello, the last two weekends i saw Norfolk southern intermodles ,east and west bounds,come buy downingtown station. is this a ongoing thing, if so will get my camera next time, and post on here. any info, will help thanks in advance. David Edwards.

The intermodal trains you have seen on the Amtrak Harrisburg Line the past two weekends have been detours because of SEPTA trackwork in the Norristown area, which is on the normal route these trains use.

According to a previous thread, there are to be more such detours later in February. I recommend keeping an eye on this discussion board for info. You should especially look for references to symbols #21E and #24K.

The westbound train you saw each of the past two Saturdays was NS #21E, and eastbound #24K also ran that way today. I believe #24K operated via Manville, NJ last weekend, and that is how most of the other trains affected by the trackwork have run. Detours similar to these ran for several weekends last fall.

Yes, Sundays too.
Next week is the Philadelphia Auto Show. This warrants Septa running extra trains to handle the crowds thus precluding the Norristown track re-configuration and signalling work. The following weekend they will be back at it.

Noted. Last fall, the Sunday detours were all running via New Jersey, rather than the Amtrak line....

How certain are we about this? 11:00 and it has yet to hit the Paradise area (10 minutes east of Lancaster).
