Jay Date: 01/31/15 20:12 Re: TBOX Graffiti Author: Gonut1 Showed up here a few days ago here on another post.
Whatever. Graffiti is all crap, true talent would be making this bozo money, not "recognition" for committing crimes by defacing other person's property. OMG, I sound like an old fart that really believes in American idealism. What the heck is wrong with me? Gonut Date: 01/31/15 20:17 Re: TBOX Graffiti Author: Benched_it Gonut1 Wrote:
------------------------------------------------------- Graffiti is all crap I saw a line recently that had four brand new blue CSX boxcars and several other clean cars in the mix. So there are some graffiti free cars riding... Jay Date: 01/31/15 20:43 Re: TBOX Graffiti Author: Out_Of_Service toledopatch Wrote:

But that's the big difference here. I care. I care about my property and upkeep it. If someone spray painted my vehicle, I'd waste no time in removing the paint and take measures to prevent it from happening again. The railroads and private car owners don't care. If they cared about graffiti on the sides of freight cars, they would remove it immediately. But they don't. Furthermore the freight railroads do nothing to prevent it from happening. If they did, more measures would be taken to secure rail equipment. But that is very costly. So the RR's have learned to live with it. Does it make it right for the taggers to do it? Absolutely not. But for you to make the argument that I'd be upset if this was my property is like comparing apples to oranges. Whether you railfans like it or not, graffiti is here to stay. And the RR's have accepted it and apparently to them it's just a piece of collateral damage for doing business where they do. Now, I am amazed at the amount of talent that went into this painting. And as far as RR operations go, this piece of art work is causing no problems. I enjoy the beauty of it. Date: 02/01/15 14:50 Re: TBOX Graffiti Author: ALCO630 Plus it's very dotbtfull that anybody ever decided not to tag a car out of fear of rants of disapproval from people on an internet message board.

Not to mention I've seen pieces where the railroad went through a lot of trouble to repaint their numbers on the car after it's been hit without messing up the graffiti piece in question. So some of them actually appreciate it... Jay Date: 02/01/15 18:08 Re: TBOX Graffiti Author: railwaybaron HUB-BA, HUB-BA! So where's the redhead?

What the H has happened to our society in the past 15 years to make such criminal activity not only happen but become commonplace and even accepted by some? And railroads did not protect their property against graffiti criminals for the prior 165 years before this degradation of our society began in the late '90s.
The graffiti we see today is more a statement of our social morals today than the security effort put forth by the railroads. I hope for our society's sake your statement about graffiti being here to stay is proven wrong rather quickly.
