Hello John,
It was extremely cold- enough to have the branches coated with ice had there been some precipitation but, in actuality, there was no ice on the branches. The shot was made with a rather long telephoto lens and the angle of the sun coupled with the telephoto lens fore-shortening everything produced the effect. I'd like to take credit for planning it all in advance but the truth is that the result was pretty much accidental.

Very nice images and I congratulate you for braving the cold for them.

I saw them all go by Merztown Station. super pics.
